Detroit Edison Public School Academy Early College of Excellence powered to a 43-6 football victory over Charter School Conference East Division rival Mt. Clemens on Friday, Sept. 10, at Edison.

   It was Edison’s first victory of the season as the Pioneers improved to 1-0 in conference and 1-2 overall. Mt. Clemens fell to 0-1/2-1.

   Edison junior Micale McClure opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

   Mt. Clemens scored to close the game to 7-6 as they missed the extra point.

   It was all Edison from then on.

   McClure scored his second touchdown a few minutes later on a 31-yard run to increase the lead to 13-6 at the end of the first quarter.

   Junior Rodney Jackson then ran for an 18-yard touchdown to make the score 19-6.

   Junior Jordan Kennedy intercepted a Mt. Clemens pass and later rushed for a one-yard touchdown to increase the lead to 25-6.

   Junior Christian Kemp intercepted a Mt. Clemens pass and returned the ball to the 25 yard line.

   McClure then rushed for his third touchdown from 25 yards out to make the score 31-6.

    McClure later connected with sophomore Joshua Peek for a 19-yard touchdown pass to increase the lead to 37-6.

   Sophomore Chris Jackson returned a fumble 40 yards for a touchdown to make the score 43-6 and set off a running clock to conclude the game.

   Edison hosts Detroit University Preparatory (0-3) on Friday, Sept. 17. University Prep fell to Riverview Gabriel Richard 54-24 on Friday.
