Detroit Loyola shut out Detroit Edison Public School Academy Early College of Excellence 52-0 to open its 2021 football season on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Bishop Foley High School in Madison Heights.
Anthony Garrett tossed five touchdown passes as Loyola took a 47-0 halftime lead.
Garrett connected with five different receivers for scores, as Jason Hardy (nine yards), Ronald Birdsong (six yards), Shenard Foster (11 yards), Lonzie Tramble III (10 yards), and Anton Davis (18 yards) caught touchdown passes.
Kendrick Britt returned a fumble 15 yards for a touchdown. Ja’Mori Biggs rushed for a two-yard touchdown.
The second half was played under a running clock.
The Bulldog defense was dominate throughout the game, allowing only two first downs to the Pioneers.
Loyola (1-0) hosts Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood (0-1) on Thursday, Sept. 9, at Foley.
