Simply perfect! Bloomfield Hills downed rival Troy 21-10 on Friday, Oct. 22, at Bloomfield Hills, to conclude the regular season undefeated at 9-0.

With the win, Bloomfield Hills won the Oakland Activities Association Blue Division championship outright.

Senior defensive back Andrew Siepierski had four interceptions and caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from junior CJ Jackson with 52 seconds left in the first half to lead the Black Hawks.

Troy jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Senior Cole Rodriguez ran for a nine-yard touchdown late in the first quarter to close the game to 7-6 as the extra point was blocked.

Troy added a field goal to increase the lead to 10-7.

Siepierski’s touchdown put Bloomfield Hills ahead 12-10 at halftime, as the extra point failed again.

The Black Hawks then held the Colts scoreless in the second half.

Senior Jack Boike kicked a 25-yard field goal to increase the lead to 15-10.

Senior Shane Winter ran for a three-yard touchdown to make the score 21-10 with 5:20 left to play. Troy blocked the extra point attempt again.

Both teams were undefeated heading into the game.

“I don’t know how many times this will really happen in Week 9  — usually it’s not even a league game — both of us 8-0, for the league  championship. And it’s really what it’s supposed to be,” Bloomfield Hills head coach Dan Loria told reporters. “You know, you feel bad. I shook

(Troy coach Chris Frasier’s) hand a couple times. You know, it’s just it’s tough. I mean, I’ve been on the other end of that stick too. I’ve done this long enough, and if you win or lose, if your kids play hard — what can you say? You won eight already in a row. But you have a chance to bring home a trophy, so I get it.”

The Black Hawks have turned things around after three-straight sub-.500 seasons, outscoring opponents 302-94 this season.

Bloomfield Hills only other undefeated regular season was in 2016, going 9-0 before falling to West Bloomfield in the first game of the Michigan High School Athletic Association district playoffs that season.

Bloomfield Hills will look for their first MHSAA football playoff victory next week. Bloomfield Hills was formed in 2013 with the combination of Andover and Lahser high schools.

Bloomfield Hills comfortably earned a Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 playoff spot, sitting at No. 8 of 32 berths (up from No. 14 last week) with a point total of 76.528.

The MHSAA playoff selection committee will draw the playoff brackets on Sunday, Oct. 24. The pairings will be announced at 5:30 p.m. on television on Bally Sports Detroit. They will be posted at StudentandAthlete.org shortly there after.
