Royal Oak Shrine Catholic rolled past Detroit Old Redford 42-6 on Friday, Oct. 19, at Southfield-Lathrup, to improve to 5-4 on the season and earn a chance at a Michigan High School Athletic Association football playoff berth.
Current projections have Shrine making the playoffs with the victory. Though the official announcement of the qualifiers and first-round pairings for both the 11 and eight-player playoffs will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 on the Selection Sunday Show on FOX Sports Detroit.
Against Old Redford, freshman Conor Benson completed 7-of-13 passes for 85 yards and four touchdowns, Senior Dan Romano had 26 carries for 202 yards and two scores and freshman Aaron Smith caught two touchdown passes for Shrine
