   Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. won its fourth-straight football game, beating Detroit Public School League Division 2 rival Detroit Denby 32-14 on Friday, Oct. 4, at Denby.

   King improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in league play. Denby fell to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the PSL.

   Freshman quarterback Dante Moore tossed three touchdowns and passed for 232 yards in the victory. Moore opened the scoring tossing a seven-yard touchdown pass to senior Marshawn Lee with 3:52 left in the first quarter.

   Less than two minutes later, junior Jaylen Reed forced a Denby fumble and returned it three yards for a touchdown. Sophomore Lynn Wyche-El’s extra point made the score 13-0 to start the second quarter.

   Reed finished with seven tackles and two sacks.

   A Denby touchdown and conversion closed the game to 13-8. King came right back with a one-yard touchdown run by senior Peny Boone with 5:49 left in the half to increase the lead to 19-8.

   Moore tossed a 55-yard touchdown to Boone and a nine-yard touchdown to senior Rashawn Williams in the third quarter.

   King hosts Detroit East English Village (1-5/0-2) on Friday, Oct. 11.  The PSL playoffs begin Thursday, Oct. 17, with semifinal games.

Division 2

Detroit Western International 39, Detroit East English Village 0: Donovan Cole was 8-for-9 passing for 173 yards with one touchdown and two rushing touchdowns. Marcell Cutright had 12 carries for 123 yards and one touchdown, and Aric Bell and Koran Brown each had one interception for Western (4-2, 1-1). East English is 1-5, 0-2.

 

Division 3

Detroit Henry Ford 14, Detroit Collegiate Preparatory at Northwestern 6: Marlon Davis had 200 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. Cardier Poellnitz had an interception, and Charles Banks had eight tackles and two sacks for Henry Ford (4-2, 1-1). CollegiatePreparatory is 0-6, 0-2.

Detroit Central 1, Detroit Douglass 0 (Forfeit): Central is 5-1/2-0.

 

Division 4

Detroit Southeastern 22, Detroit Communication & Media Arts 16: Desean Hamilton had 111 yards rushing and one interception. Leron Roseboro had 90 yards rushing, two rushing scores and a passing touchdown for Southeastern (4-2, 2-0). CMA is 2-4, 0-2.

Detroit Osborn 54, Detroit Pershing 0: Demarco Abbott recorded two strip sacks and returned both fumbles for touchdowns for Osborn (4-2/2-0). Pershing is (0-6/0-2).
