   Clarkston Everest Collegiate remained undefeated with a convincing 32-11 football victory over Catholic High School League Intersectional 2 rival Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Liggett.

   Everest improved to 1-0 in division and 4-0 overall with the victory.

   Junior Giovanni Mastromatteo intercepted a Liggett pass early in the first quarter and returned the ball to the 30 to begin Everest’s first scoring drive. A few plays later Mastromatteo connected with sophomore Johnny Nedwick for a 19-yard pass play to the one-yard line. Junior Jack Lasceski rushed

for the touchdown from the one. Mastromatteo found Nedwick in the end zone for the conversion to put Everest up 8-0 with 7:59 left in the quarter.

   Later in the quarter, Mastromatteo tossed a 35-yard touchdown pass to junior Michael McGrath and senior Fernando Caccia kicked the extra point to increase the lead to 15-0.

   Mastromatteo tossed his second touchdown pass in the second quarter, connecting with sophomore Joey Thibodeau for 34 yards. Caccia’s extra point put Everest up 22-0. Liggett kicked a field goal to make the halftime score 22-3.

   Lasceski rushed for his second one-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Caccia kicked his third extra point and later kicked a 41-yard field goal to put Everest ahead 32-3. Liggett would score a touchdown in the fourth quarter and make the conversion to make the final margin 32-11.

  Mastromatteo finished the game nine for 13 passing for 200 yards. Lasceski had 65 yards rushing. Nedwick had five receptions for 111 yards. McGrath and junior John Surran both had seven tackles.

   Everest hosts Marine City Cardinal Mooney (0-2/2-3) in a division matchup on Friday, Oct. 4.
