University of Detroit Jesuit senior Elijah Rikard (1) returns an interception 68 yards for a touchdown on Friday.

   University of Detroit Jesuit pounded Catholic High School League AA Division rival Dearborn Divine Child 35-0 on Friday, Sept. 18, to open the delayed 2020 football season at Jesuit.

   Jesuit jumped out to a 21-0 lead at halftime. Junior quarterback Nathan Brown opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Senior Elijah Rikard returned an interception for 68 yards for a touchdown. Brown connected with junior Shawn Smith for a 52-yard touchdown with 1:11 left in the second quarter.

 

   The Cubs added two more rushing touchdowns in the second half.

   Senior Aaron Richard rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown. Senior Azola Martin added a touchdown run. Brown finished 5-of-7 passing for 97 yards.

  It was the third consecutive shutout loss for Divine Child against Jesuit.

  Jesuit (1-0) travels to Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood on Saturday, Sept.26, at 1 p.m. Divine Child hosts Detroit Loyola on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m.
