   Detroit Denby fought off Detroit Renaissance 6-0 in a Detroit Public School League crossover in its season-opener on Friday, Sept. 18, at Renaissance.

   Denby scored the game’s only points with 7:20 left in the first half as senior Marquez Bridges connected with junior Armon Williams for a 20-yard touchdown pass. The point after failed.

   Williams added three pass deflections and six tackles on defense. Dewan Swillings-Young had nine tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble.

   Denby (1-0) hosts Detroit East English Village on Saturday, Sept. 26, at noon. Renaissance travels to Detroit Cody on Friday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m.

Detroit Central 8, Detroit Henry Ford 7: The Trail Blazers rallied to beat the Trojans on Saturday. entral senior Jus’tyz Tuggle connected with senior Kenyetta McKeever for a 30-yard touchdown pass as time expired in the third quarter. Tuggle then found senior DeAntre Mitchell in the end zone for a two-point conversion to give the Trail Blazers an 8-7 lead.

Detroit Cass Technical 34, Detroit Martin Luther King, Jr. 26: Sophomore quarterback Leeshaun Mumpfield completed 15 of 27 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns (75, 41 and 54 yards) to Penn State-bound receiver Kalen King. King added a rushing touchdown. Alvin Hosendove also scored a rushing touchdown.

Detroit Communication & Media Arts 46, Detroit Osborn 0: Evan Edgar had a 21-yard touchdown run and returned a fumble for a touchdown, Jeremiah Williams had seven carries for 126 yards and one touchdown, and Tyrese Bomar-White was 4-for-8 passing for 68 yards and three touchdowns with one rushing touchdown and caught two interceptions for the Pharaohs.

 

 

Detroit Mumford 37, Detroit East English Village 0: Bryden Evans ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Jonathan Scott had eight tackles, two sacks, and two tackles for a loss for the Mustangs.

Detroit Southeastern 16, Detroit Pershing 0: Marquise Dancy had 15 tackles and one fumble recovery for a touchdown, Donald Echols had 10 tackles and two interceptions, and Kasayeis Crumsey had eight tackles and one fumble recovery for the Jungaleers.

Detroit Western International 34, Detroit Cody 0: Donovan Cole threw three touchdowns, Lamont Parks had three catches for 93 yards and one touchdown, Daniel McIntosh had 12 carries for 103 yards and Mekhi Fortt had two interceptions for the Cowboys.
