   Bloomfield Hills fought off Oakland Activities Association Blue Division football rival Troy Athens 21-13 in its season-opener on Thursday, Sept. 17, at Bloomfield Hills.

   Tanner Slazinski connected for an 80-yard touchdown to Andrew Siepierski with 2:45 left in the game to give the Black Hawks an eight-point lead.

   It was the second touchdown connection between Slazinski and Siepierski of the game. The two connected in the first half for a 13-yard scoring play to tie the game at 7-7 in the first half.

 

   Kobe Reed’s touchdown run in the second quarter gave the Black Hawks a 14-7 lead at halftime.

   Athens scored late in the third, but Bloomfield blocked the point after to make the score 14-13.

   The Black Hawks had big defensive stops to end the first half and to close the game.

   Bloomfield Hills hosts Royal Oak on Friday, Sept. 25. Troy Athens travels to Ferndale in its next game.
