Detroit Denby powered past Detroit Southeastern 42-0 in a rain-soaked Detroit Public School League football crossover on Friday, Sept. 13, at Southeastern’s Bart Scott Field.
Denby improved to 3-0 with the victory and has outscored opponents 119-0 so far this season.
The game was delayed due to lightning strikes before kickoff and the first three quarters were played in driving rain.
After a scoreless first quarter, Denby took charge in the second, finding the endzone three times.
Junior Marquez Bridges opened the scoring with a 60-yard touchdown run. Senior Semaj McDonald then scored on a run from 20 yards out. Sophomore quarterback Brandon Grimes rushed for a 55-yard

touchdown to put Denby up 18-0 at half.
Senior Latrell Thompkins recovered a fumble in the endzone in the third quarter. Grimes ran for the conversion to increase the lead to 26-0.
McDonald rushed for his second touchdown of the day from 21 yards out and Thompkins rushed for the conversion to make the score 34-0 at the end of three quarters.
Denby concluded the scoring on a 52-yard touchdown pass from Grimes to junior Keyon Hammonds. Bridges rushed for the conversion to make the in final 42-0.
Denby hosts Detroit Renaissance on Friday, Sept. 20.
