   Detroit Cody dominated Detroit Pershing 28-0 in a Detroit Public School League crossover to even its football record at 1-1 at Pershing on Friday, Sept. 6.

   Junior Deshawn Crosby began the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run after senior Amari Spears recovered a Pershing fumble and returned it to the one yard line. The conversion failed, giving Cody a 6-0 lead after one quarter.

   Senior quarterback Lawrence Wallace tossed a 43-yard touchdown to senior Anthony Hubbard in the second quarter. Wallace rushed for the conversion to increase the lead to 14-0 at halftime.

   In the third quarter, Wallace connected with Crosby for a 42-yard pass

James Moody for 19 yards. Wallace rushed for a one-yard touchdown two plays later. Wallace connected with Hubbard for the conversion.

   Wallace continued to shine in the fourth, finding Hubbard for two huge gains to put the ball on the two yard line. He then found Spears for a touchdown pass to make the final score 28-0.

   The Cody defense stopped Pershing on downs in the red zone twice in the fourth quarter to preserve the shutout.

   Cody hosts Detroit Central on Friday, Sept. 13, at 4 p.m.
