   Detroit Central earned its second straight dominating shutout victory, beating Detroit Public School League Division 2 rival Detroit Cody 45-0 on Thursday, Sept. 2, at Central’s Woodrow “Woody” Thomas Stadium.

   Central led 37-0 at halftime and played the entire second half under a running clock.

   Central senior Calvin Turner Jr. opened the scoring with a 13-yard touchdown run. Turner scored his second touchdown of the day only three minutes later from five yards out to increase the lead to 14-0. Senior David Williams scored on a quarterback keeper from one yard out and ran for a two-point conversion to make the score 22-0.

   Williams tossed three touchdown passes (20 yards, 35 yards, and 11 yards) and made two two-point conversion passes.

   Central (1-0/2-0) has beat its two opponents 102-0 so far this season. Central downed Detroit University Preparatory 55-0 on Aug. 26.

   Cody was coming off a 32-0 win over Detroit East English Village on Aug. 27.

   Central hosts Detroit Southeastern (0-0/0-2) on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Detroit Osborn 20, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 15: Torian Wyatt had an interception for a touchdown, Stephen Teasley had a touchdown and three catches for 120 yards, Kevin Parker had 13 tackles, Cory Weeks had two interceptions and Greg Mercer had a passing and rushing touchdown for Osborn (1-1). Gabriel Richard is 0-2.

Leeshaun Mumpfield led Cass Tech (2-0), throwing five touchdown passes, four of which were 25 yards or more. Khamari Anderson, Nate Briggs, Latrell White, Jameel Gardner Jr. and Kaden Wilson all came down with a touchdown reception.

Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. 40, Muskegon Mona Shores 19

Dante Moore finished 12-of-18 passing for 221 yards and three touchdowns (Terrence Maize, Chansey Willis Jr. and Lamont Parks), without an interception. Sterling Anderson Jr. finished with 170 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Karl Williams rushed for a touchdown. Terrence Brown had 71 yards on four attempts for King (1-1).

Detroit Communication & Media Arts 48, Detroit East English Village 6

Javon Doniver was 6-for-7 passing for 100 yards with three touchdowns and had 12 carries for 72 yards and two rushing touchdowns, Gildon Reynolds had two catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns, and Aquarius Sims had two sacks for CMA (1-1). East English is 0-2.
