Football: University of Detroit Jesuit opens season with 17-6 victory over Roseville on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019

   University of Detroit Jesuit opened its 2019 football season with a 17-6 victory over Roseville on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Hazel Park high school.

   Jesuit led 3-0 at halftime on a field goal by sophomore Xavier Chow.

   Senior Nicholas Johnson returned an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter to give the Cubs a 10-0 lead.

   Roseville scored later in the quarter, but Jesuit blocked the extra point to make the score 10-6.

   Jesuit opens its Catholic High School League AA Division schedule on Friday, Sept. 6, against Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood (1-0/0-0) at 7 p.m. at Hazel Park.

   Cranbrook beat Pontiac 41-0 in their opener on Thursday.
